Abstract:
In an era where AI-generated content and digital impersonation increasingly threaten online trust, verifying human identity has become crucial. Amid this complex landscape, how can individuals prove they are human while safeguarding their privacy? This seminar will be a fireside chat mode and will introduce World ID, a solution by Sam Altman, the founder and CEO of OpenAI and the founder and chairman of the World project. We are honored to welcome Ajay Patel and Fabian Bodensteiner from the World team, who will discuss, from a technical perspective, how World ID leverages technologies like iris scanning, Zero-Knowledge Proofs, EVM Layer 2 with OP Stack, and NVIDIA’s Jetson edge AI platform to facilitate a privacy-preserving, decentralized Proof of Human (PoH) and the real human network. They will also explore World ID's potential applications to foster authentic human interactions in our AI-driven future.
Biography:
Ajay Patel leads the World ID division at Tools for Humanity, focusing on global identity verification technology. With over six years at Google as Director of Product Management, he specialized in digital identity, payment systems, and customer identity management, enhancing user authentication and payment experiences. Ajay previously founded the Abaka Health platform and held a leadership role at Azimuth Systems, securing key clients in 3G and 4G communications. He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.
Fabian Bodensteiner is the Managing Director of Worldcoin Europe GmbH and represents the Worldcoin Foundation in Europe while supporting global commercial efforts. As a founding team member of Worldcoin and Tools for Humanity, Fabian also led hardware and manufacturing at Tools for Humanity, overseeing the “orb” device's development and international deployment.
